Prom 2009

                                                                               Prom 2009
Prom season is here!
Forget the days of carnation corsages; there are so many fun and contemporary choices available for your 2009 prom flowers! We’re frequently asked questions regarding the giving and receiving of the corsage and boutonnière. Here are the most common Prom flower questions:

Who pays for the Corsage and Boutonniere?
The Prom couple orders the corsage and boutonnière for each other. They present the prom flowers to each other as they are leaving for the Prom.Mini Calla Bouttonierre for your Weymouth Prom from European Flower Company

How Do I Know What to Order?
Boys’ moms order many of our Prom corsages, not because the boys do not want to order the corsages but because they have no idea what to order. Some girls keep secret from their dates the color of the dress that they will be wearing, this makes it very difficult for the boys (or their moms) to determine what color flowers to order!

Girls, this is where you need to help out your date! Let him know what color/style dress you are wearing! Consider having a conversation with him along the lines of “ I was going to order a white dendrobium orchid boutonnière with silver accents to match my silver dress. Do you think that  will go nicely with your  blacktux?"                                                                                  For your Prom, Blue Mist Wrist Corsage from European Flower Company

Some girls prefer to come with their date to the florist and place their orders together. This allows the girl to choice her ribbon, gemstones, bracelet, etc. to coordinate with her Prom dress and their date’s boutonniere. Or you may want to make a selection from our online Prom pages and let your date know of your corsage preference. Girls may also order additional matching flowers for their hair or to decorate their bag or shoes.

Pin or Wrist Corsage?
Prom corsages are usually wrist corsages; let your date know if you would prefer a pin on corsage or a hand held nosegay.

You Can Bling Out My Corsage?!!
Rhinestones, sequins, pearls and metallics aren’t just for Prom dresses! Today’s corsages are accented with all kinds of sparkle and bling. The days of white elastic wristlets on Prom wrist corsages are long gone. Contemporary wristlets are as beaded, jeweled and sequined as a bracelet!

What kinds of Flowers Are Used in Corsages and Boutonnieres?
Popular Prom flowers include dendrobium orchids, freesia, miniature roses, miniature calla lilies, mums, alstromeria, orchids…flowers that are small yet sturdy enough to withstand being wired, taped and without a water source for a long period of time.

How Much Do Prom Flowers Cost?
Boutonnieres begin in the $10.00 range for a classic rose boutonnière and can go up to $30.00 for a phaleonopsis orchid boutonnière. Corsages begin at $24.99 for a classic miniature rose corsage and can go as high as $70.00 for an elaborate multi-bloom orchid corsage with a lot of jeweled accents and an elaborate jewelry wristlet. The cost is entirely dependent on your choices.

When Should I Order My Prom Flowers?
Ideally, Prom Flowers should be ordered at least a week before your Prom. This is to insure that we will have an adequate inventory of the flowers, ribbon and gems that you’ve chosen. Of course, we can usually accomodate last minute requests too!

When Should I Pick Up My Flowers?
Prom flowers are usually picked up in the early afternoon of the day of the Prom. You will want to take the flowers home immediately put them in the refrigerator (to keep them cool and fresh) until you are leaving for the Prom.

Prom Flowers are always custom designed to meet your needs. There are many custom options available for you to choose from to accent your dress and your style!
